Is it ok to use GPS receiver on the airplane?

I think it would be fun to have GPS device with me to see where I am, speed and so on. As well, GPS receiver does not transmit anything to be dangerous. But I am unsure if it is allowed.

you are not allowed to use them but i do it all the time. the flight attendants see my GPS but have yet to say anything.

but it is great you can see the roads on the ground and know where you are. i love it.

for years i watched out the window and wanted to know where i was. then with a GPS you can see just what road is down there and the citys and lakes.

mine shows the altitude and ground speed westward you have the wind in your face so its slower but eastward you get the tail wind and the speed increases a lot.

you can see the changes in altitude also and with a bread crumb trail you can see where you have been.

i liked it when i crossed into the Arctic circle. its a strange feeling to know you are so far north.

i love it.
