How to bulk up if very skinny?
I’m a dude and i’m pretty slim – i want to put some weight on and bulk up a bit. I go to the gym 3 times a week and have just started doing “body pump” – an hours weights class. What would people recommend for turning into Arnold??
My question is how to bulk up and put weight on – not lose weight! lol
If I did that there’d be nothing left of me!

I was in the same situation a few years ago, body pump is good, but isn’t it quite intense, which isn’t exactly what you want if you want size.
Say you can go the gym 3 times a week – I’d do one day chest and triceps – next day Back and Biceps and the next shoulders and legs. doing some abs each sesh as well. You want to be doing heavy weights, so you can just manage to push out 10reps, do 3 sets of 10( or 4 sets of 8 it’s up to you) inbetween each take around a minute+ rest. you want to be really putting in a lot of effort to lift the weights and should be knakkered by the end.
The other aspect is you will need some sort of protein shake for straight after a workout. You also need to eat more if you’re trying to gain more size, i went through a lot of chicken each day.
Then there’s things like creatine can help in the actual workout to get you working harder. I tried maximuscle cyclone which is meant to be an all in one, seemed to work, although it could have been psychological.

Bulking and Cutting- A Great Way To Gain Muscle Mass
Using a bulking and cutting cycle is a great way to really add some muscle, especially if you’ve hit a plateau. It can be extremely beneficial in delivering drastic changes to your body, but it may require somewhat drastic changes to your diet and exercise routine. Roughly defined, bulking is the process of consuming a lot more calories (especially protein) to gain substantial weight, with most of it being muscle but also some fat. Cutting follows the bulking cycle and it is composed of eating less calories and/or including some type of cardio workout to lose the excess fat you’ve gained. If you think this may be for you, here are some guidelines to follow.
To begin the bulking process, you may want to pick a target weight or timeline. This will vary person to person, but you can hope to gain about 1-2 pounds per week. Some people prefer not to choose a target and simply bulk until they feel big enough. The next step is to increase your calorie intake. Focus on getting as many calories as possible from protein and eliminating sweets from your diet so as to limit the amount of fat gained. You may also want to incorporate a little bit of cardio if you feel like you gain fat too easily. How much to increase your calories will also vary, but a good tip is to keep increasing calories until you feel you’re gaining fat too rapidly. During this entire bulking process, you’re going to want to make sure you are hitting the gym hard to really utilize those extra calories to build as much muscle as you can.
Once you’ve decided to finish your bulk, it is time to begin cutting. Slash your calorie intake while stepping up the cardio to begin cutting out the extra fat. Do not cut so many calories so that you begin to lose muscle, as this would defeat the purpose of the bulk! Continue lifting as hard as you were before. Although you will probably lose a little muscle during this phase of the cycle, you want to keep as much as possible while you lose fat. This cutting process may be a little difficult and will probably take a few months, but in the end you will see the results of more muscle mass and less fat.
A full bulking a cutting cycle may take you just a couple months or perhaps a full year, depending on your goals and preferences. It is something that takes a little practice, but you will quickly learn a lot about your body and how it responds. Ultimately, if you’re looking to see huge improvements in your muscle mass and body composition, or if you’re just looking to try something new, consider using a bulking and cutting cycle.
